How Long Do Brazilian Butt Lift Results Last?
How Permanent is a BBL?
A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) enhances the appearance of your buttocks, accentuating your curves for a more voluptuous look. If you have flat or sagging buttocks and are considering a BBL, you may wonder if the results of Brazilian butt lift surgery are permanent.
Brazilian butt lift results are considered long-lasting because once the fat cells are harvested and injected into the buttocks, they don't melt away or disappear. They remain in the body unless you undergo liposuction to remove them. However, fat cells do react to weight fluctuations. This means that fat cells will continue to grow if you gain weight and dissipate if you lose weight, particularly through conventional methods such as diet and exercise.
After a Brazilian butt lift, patients who gain weight notice their buttocks become even larger. However, the areas where the surgeon will have extracted the fat cells (such as the abdomen, back, hips, thighs, and flanks) will remain slimmer. Therefore, if you experience weight fluctuations due to pregnancy, weight gain or loss, or hormonal changes, your BBL surgery results may also change.
Patients who wish to maintain long-term BBL results should maintain a stable weight to avoid any changes that may affect their ideal appearance.
Brazilian Butt Lift Results
After a BBL procedure, while a small amount of natural fat may be reabsorbed, most cells can retain their new position. Maintaining a stable weight is important, as this can compromise your procedure results. At the end of the recovery process, you should be able to enjoy your results for years. Once the swelling subsides, your buttocks will appear fuller and more curvaceous. In addition, the area that underwent liposuction will appear slimmer. Please note that two distinct areas of the body require healing: the buttocks and the site from which the fat was harvested.
Are BBLs Safe?
Like all surgical procedures, BBL surgery also carries risks. However, it is reassuring that the likelihood of these risks occurring is greater when the procedure is performed by cosmetic surgeons who are not qualified to perform these complex procedures.
In the case of the BBL, the most significant risks can be caused by the infiltration of fat into the muscle plane, which must be avoided, as the fat should not be placed in the subcutaneous tissue under the skin, in order to avoid fat emboli associated with the passage of fat into the bloodstream from the muscle. Fat injection must remain superficial to prevent a fat embolism into the circulatory system. On the other hand, irregularities or asymmetries may appear, or the fat may be reabsorbed more than expected (at least 50% of the transplanted fat is usually reabsorbed). It is also possible that a postoperative infection may occur, which is generally resolved with antibiotics. When performed correctly, a Brazilian butt lift achieves a very good aesthetic result. To avoid complications when the patient desires a significant volume of buttocks, it is advisable to perform the procedure in two surgical steps. In a first step, the volume is increased, the buttock region is remodeled, and skin and laxity (if any) are improved. And in a second operation, volume is added without compromising health.

Is a Butt Lift Painful?
Brazilian butt lift surgery is performed under general or local anesthesia with sedation. This is a procedure that requires few days of hospitalization. The postoperative period is generally neither complicated nor painful; however, during the first few days after the BBL, the patient may experience a great deal of discomfort. Pain is manageable with over-the-counter analgesics.
Can a Brazilian Butt Lift Go Wrong?
BBL surgery dangers: According to a study, the incidence of death after the procedure was found to be approximately one in three thousand. This is by far the highest mortality incidence among all plastic surgery procedures.
The problem appears to have been caused by injecting fat into and under the muscles, and that fat subsequently leaking into the bloodstream, causing pulmonary embolism and death of patients.
- Firstly, when a competent surgeon performs a BBL, they always work on the muscle and in the subcutaneous plane and this reduces the risks. The only limitation of the BBL with this technique is that you cannot always get as much volume as some would like;
- Secondly, they always stay away from the lower inner buttock area, where the main blood vessels are located;
These results show how important it is to choose both the technique and the doctor.
BBL Before and After
BBL before and after results are spectacular when this procedure is performed by a professional. Nowadays, there are many people who perform cosmetic procedures without being plastic surgeons, thinking it's easy money. But the experience, skills, and anatomical precision required for this cannot be acquired by taking a weekend course, watching online videos, or observing someone else for a few months for a so-called scholarship. Be careful. Ask your cosmetic surgeon for BBL before and after photos to get an idea of the work of the doctor who will operate on you.
